Coladex ("we", "us", "the Website") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

For users who browse without an account: We do not collect any personal data. We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies. The Website uses your browser's localStorage to remember your preference, no data is sent to our servers.

For users who create an account: We collect the following information when you sign up:

  • Email address (required) — used for authentication, email verification, password reset and notifications. This is the only required personal data.
  • Name (optional) — displayed to you in the interface. You may leave this blank.
  • Google account information (if you sign in with Google) — we receive your Google email address and profile name. We do not access any other Google data such as contacts, calendar, or files.
  • Other Social login account information (when you sign in with them, e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, etc) information similar to above is collected.

Information we do NOT collect:

  • We do not collect your IP address for tracking purposes
  • We do not collect browsing behaviour or usage patterns
  • We do not collect device information or fingerprints
  • We do not collect location data

Note: Our hosting service provider may independently collect certain information (such as IP addresses and page views) for website analytics and security purposes. This is standard practice for web hosting and is governed by the hosting provider's own privacy policy.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely for:

  • Authenticating you and managing your account
  • Sending transactional emails (account verification, password reset, etc)
  • Providing premium features tied to your account
  • When handling your support requests
  • May be used to improve our services

We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, profiling, behavioural analysis, or any purpose beyond operating your account and improving our services. We will never send you unsolicited emails.

3. Cookies

We use a cookie to keep you signed in when you create an account. This cookie is set with security best practices and expires after 7 days. We do not use third-party cookies, analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any other tracking mechanism.

  • Email delivery service used to process your email address solely for delivering transactional emails (account verification, password reset, etc). Your email is not used for any other purpose.
  • Social login providers (if you choose to sign in with Google or another provider), your authentication is processed through the provider's service. We receive only details like your email and profile name. The provider's handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policy.
  • Payment service providers (if you choose to pay for premium features), your payment is processed through the provider's service. We receive minimal information needed to process the payment, we do not store sensitive details like credit card, UPI ID or bank account information. 5. Data Storage and Security

  • Your account data is stored in a secured database hosted on our infrastructure
  • Passwords are never stored in plain text, they are securely hashed using industry-standard methods
  • All data transmission is encrypted
  • Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel only

6. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account exists. You have the option to delete your account and all associated data at any time. We reserve the right to delete your account and data for various reasons, including but not limited to violation of our terms and conditions or unused accounts. We will notify you via email if we delete your account and data.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data (visible on your account page)
  • Correct inaccurate data by updating your profile
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

8. Children's Privacy

Coladex is intended for use by students and parents researching college admissions. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please delete it or notify us via the contact details mentioned below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Website after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
